Shoebox Stories

Share in the joy of a shoebox...

It's amazing what a simple gift-filled shoebox can do for a child in need. It can put a smile on a face. It can make a child feel loved. It can even bring lasting joy into difficullt circumstances.

Here in the UK, there is power in each shoebox too. It can bring children, parents and grandparents together. It can bring churches and local communities together. It can help a child to understand the value in giving to others.

Here are just a few shoebox stories to show just what can happen when shoeboxes packed with love are from you to a child in need...

A simple message of acceptance to a Roma community

Our partners in Bosnia explain the amazing difference these shoeboxes are making in the lives of the children:

From behind the crooked door

Serbia

Sasha's Story

Belarus
The orphanage is alive with noise; everywhere excited children are opening their shoeboxes. Cries of surprise fill the air as gift after gift is pulled out and shown off to others around. Amongst the colour and noise sits little Sasha, a huge smile beaming from her face.

The little grey shoebox

Belarus
How often do we laugh and say, “Wow, God really had a special purpose for that shoebox!”

This story is no exception and yet in many ways it’s even more amusing as for many of us, this little box may not have passed inspection.

The shoebox was the smallest the distributors had ever seen and to add to that it was plain and grey, no colourful Christmas designs decorated its outside. The little grey shoebox arrived at an orphanage in Belarus and during the distribution was handed to a small boy on crutches.
