Cheers of excitement filled the Melksham warehouse last week as the first load of shoeboxes, packed tightly into a lorry, left the busy site. Every year, volunteers from the surrounding area give up their time to help sort the thousands of gift-filled shoeboxes that arrive daily from across the South West. It’s a tiring job and yet the rewards are priceless.

Today, that first load of shoeboxes set sail for Liberia, to be placed into the hands of children, many of whom have grown up through years of civil war and have never received a Christmas present before. Each shoebox, filled with exciting goodies, conveys a clear message of love to that child.

Today, join with us and give thanks for the volunteers who give up their time to make Operation Christmas Child possible and let’s pray in advance for each of the children in Liberia who will receive one of these first shoeboxes.
