Peering out from behind the crooked door of her little house, Adrijana watches as a strange car pulls into her gypsy village in Zranjanin, Serbia. Small and barefooted she pads out to the arriving car, watching in confusion as brightly coloured shoeboxes are unloaded from the back seat.
Receiving a shoebox, Adrijana’s eyes suddenly light up in astonishment and delight. As the realization hits her that this is a gift just for her, the smile spreads on her face and then neither the mud nor the cold December morning can stop her. Going from house to house she runs telling everyone about the amazing gifts that have arrived in her village.
