About OCC

Operation Christmas Child is the world's largest children's Christmas project, run by the Christian charity Samaritan's Purse. We have been sending gift-filled shoeboxes around the world since 1990, bringing joy into the lives of over 80 million underprivileged children.

Last year, over 500,000 people from across the UK and Ireland got involved - including many churches, schools and workplaces. Children and adults alike wrapped and packed around 1.12 million shoeboxes full of gifts and goodies, which were then sent to disadvantaged children across Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Shoeboxes arriving in SwazilandFrom your hands into theirs...

Giving a shoebox gift is really quite simple. You wrap and pack it, we check and send it, and our in-country partners deliver it. It starts in your hands and ends up in theirs.

You can either pack it yourself or pack it online using our new Shoebox World website.

Find out more about the remarkable journey of a shoebox - which ends up with a child in need experiencing God's love through a simple Christmas gift.

How to get involved...

If you are an individual who just wants to do a shoebox yourself or with your family, then click here.

If you are part of a church, school, workplace or community group and would like to get others in your group involved, then simply follow these 3 steps:

1. Order FREE Operation Christmas Child resources for your group - including our little leaflets which explain how to pack your shoebox and include our boy/girl stickers for your box.

2. Encourage everyone in your group to get hold of an empty shoebox, fill it with gifts, and bring them together before November 18th. (Don't forget to remind them to include their £2.50 donation to help their shoebox get where it needs to go).

3. We will then give you a call to arrange to collect your shoeboxes sometime after November 18th. Your boxes will then be processed by our volunteers before being sent out for distribution to children in need
